In today’s world of smartphones, the keypad is slowly disappearing – smartphones are making use of larger touchscreens and we don’t see keypads anymore. It sure looks like Japanese electronics manufacturer, Sharp isn’t done with them just yet. They’ve announced a new Sharp AQUOS phone, the IS11H, it features a slide-out numerical keypad. Yes, the ones we used to see in feature phones before we even got slide-out QWERTY keyboards.

But other than the strangely present keypad, the phone packs the internals of a high-end device. A 1.4GHz MSM8655 Snapdragon processor, a 3.7″ (960 x 540) display with glasses-free 3D support, Android 2.3, an 8megapixel camera capable of 3D support, Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS and a 1Seg TV Tuner. We’ll probably never get to see the phone on this side of the world, but with the return of the numerical keypad, doesn’t it make you wonder if the protruding antenna will make a come back.
