RIM Makes Bridge Software Official For AT&T Users

It seems that RIM has given up waiting for AT&T to finally give the approval for the Bridge application that allowed Blackberry users to synch their Blackberry smartphones with the Blackberry Playbook in order to access their e-mails.

Granted there were some users who managed to extract the app and make it available for other AT&T users but there were some questions about security and trust issues, especially enterprise customers. However fret not as the app is now available for download by RIM. Just follow this link and you should be able to download the files. You will require the desktop manager software on your computer to install this app.

Now another interesting piece of news is that on top of making their customers wait for the Bridge app to be approved, there might be a chance that AT&T will charge customers for the use of the Bridge feature. A message by RIM says “AT&T BlackBerry users should contact AT&T for information regarding pricing for the BlackBerry Bridge feature.” While this does not officially confirm that there will be a charge it does sound quite worrying for Blackberry users. After all this is a feature that Blackberry users should be able to enjoy for free.
