Pantech’s 5-Inch Android Tablet Spotted

Meet the Pantech 5-inch Android tablet. Not to be confused with our previous posting of the Pantech Vega Racer which is the Korean manufacturer’s attempt at the worlds first “super phone”. Of course you can hardly be blamed as the looks of the device, named the Vega No. 5, doesn’t seem to differ much from its smartphone version and the names are almost similar too. Visibly when compared side to side the difference would then be obvious as the Vega No.5 sports a 5-inch display while the Vega Racer is at 4.3-inches.

For a tablet 5-inches does seem on the small side although I guess it does make up for it by being extremely compact and not to mention the mobility that it offers where one could pretty much just slip it into their pocket. If you are wondering what’s under the hood, it looks like the Vega No.5 will be sporting a dual core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor (MSM8x60), with a 800 x 480 5-inch display, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, 16GB of internal storage, 8MP rear camera that is capable of 1080p HD video capture, front camera and is also able to make phone calls, so I guess it’s more like a smartphone/tablet hybrid. On top of all of that it will be running on Android’s Gingerbread 2.3.

Pricing at the moment is unknown but it is expected to go on sale some time this month in Korea and China.
