Not a fan of the Safari browser on your iOS device? Well there are a couple of alternatives but probably the most popular would be Opera Mini, who has recently released an update making it now the Opera Mini 6 browser. It is free and it is available in the Apple App store so if you were looking for an alternative to Safari, maybe you should give Opera Mini 6 a spin.

What’s new about this version is that it will be taking advantage of the iPhone 4’s Retina display, although I am pretty sure it will still work fine for you iPhone 3GS users out there. It was also updated to be tablet friendly on your iPad. It has also included 90% compression of data traffic so those of you who are really conscious about your data usage, this is for you.

As if the original Opera Mini wasn’t fast enough, the new version promises to be even faster and it will boast fluid scrolling and panning even on the largest of websites. Social networking integrations include Share buttons that let you recommend websites to your friends on Facebook or Twitter with a single touch from the browser. A brand new jazzed-up skin and redesigned menus will also part of its update. If all of that hasn’t sold you then I don’t know what will! Either way it’s free so take some time to check it out.

P.S. Not to be confused with Oprah Winfrey.
