NEC’s Atom Tablet, the VersaPro

It seems that in Japan, NEC has rolled out their new tablet device – the VersaPro VK15V/TM-C which will be running on Windows 7 Professional 32Bit, this new Tablet is powered by an Oak Trail Atom Z670 (1.5GHz) with 2GB of DDR2 RAM, 64GB of SSD Bluetooth, WiFi, HDMI, SDHC and a 10.1” screen with a 1280×800 resolution.

It is interesting to see NEC rolling out a tablet which isn’t running on Google’s Android operating system which seems to be the popular route chosen by Samsung and Motorola. Perhaps this is aimed more towards business professionals who might prefer the Windows 7 Professional operating system but Cisco already announced their tablet, the Cius, which is targeted at business professionals and will be running on the Android operating system so maybe NEC has their own reasons, maybe trying to stand out in a crowd of iOS and Android devices.

It is thought to be that the Versa Pro VK15V/TM-C will be available in Japan this coming summer but word on pricing is still unknown. If this tablet were to make its way over to the States how well do you think it would hold its own against the Android and iOS devices?
