More NFC Systems Makes Its Way To Restaurants

It’s starting to look like NFC technology is starting to gain quite a bit of traction in the technology news these days because announced today by electronic payment company Verifone and software developer Micros Systems, the new system that they have come up with would tap into the growing technology of  NFC to let customers pay for dinner bills through a digital wallet stored on their mobile devices.

While NFC technology isn’t that new as evidenced with the Visa PayWave system introduced quite a while back, it’s starting to become more and more prominent with smartphones these days.

The new system that was suggested would firstly make use of Verifone’s Payware Mobile Enterprise product that would work with other NFC enabled devices to accept secure mobile payments, while Micros Systems would be the one who supplies the software to restaurants and the hospitality industry. Not only would this allow restaurants and other such establishments to accept payments via NFC but it would also allow the use of coupons and vouchers and other various promotions through the mobile device.

Of course this might mean handing over your mobile device to your server while he processes the payment, something I’m sure a lot of people would not be so ready to do.
