Love all things 3D? Well, LG wants you to ride on the stereoscopic 3D wave with their latest LG Optimus 3D smartphone, where it will not only feature glasses-free stereoscopic 3D images, but it will also come with Wikitude 3D, a 3D-enabled browser thanks to LG’s partnership with augmented reality (AR) pioneer Wikitude. This is touted to be the first three dimensional AR browser in the world, available for free over at LG World (LG’s dedicated application store) from June onwards to go alongside the upcoming LG Optimus 3D smartphone.

The Wikitude 3D browser paves the way for better interaction and engagement with real-time user environments, and with 2D AR displaying just overlapped objects, 3D AR will be able to do and achieve so much more, showing off places, landmarks and objects in 3D so that they are a whole lot easier to distinguish. The browser will let users discover details concerning their surroundings and access related Wikipedia articles and Twitter information.

Wikitude 3D will throw in information on more than 100 million locations worldwide, where they will also feature contributions from over 1,000 content providers. The browser is able to support up to 12 languages at the moment with more to come in the pipeline. With slightly more than a month left to save up for the LG Optimus 3D this summer in Europe, the rest of the world waits with bated breath.
