LG’s Smartphone Boss Jumps Ship To South Korea Apple

With some of Apple’s biggest competitors, namely Samsung and LG, having home ground advantage in South Korea it’s not hard to understand why Apple decided to hire LG’s former Vice President of Smartphone Business, Dominique Oh, to be its new general manager in South Korea.

Dominique Oh was appointed to the position yesterday and he will be taking over Andrew Sedgwick, who was head of Apple’s Korean operations for more than a decade. The former Vice President of Smartphone Business used to take responsibility for LG’s Android and Windows Phone 7 product lineups, along with the establishment of relationships with global operators and future partners.

Hopefully this move by Apple will start to see things turn around for them in South Korea where they have had heavy competition by Samsung and LG who have both brought iPhone lookalikes in the form of the Samsung Galaxy S II and LG Optimus Black.
