According to a report by Digitimes it seems that Apple has slowed down the shipment volume of the iPhone 4, presumably in anticipation of the iPhone 4S which, according to speculation, is planned for September 2011. It seems that Apple has reduced the total amount of iPhone 4’s from 20 million units down to 17.5-18 million units, which consists of 16 million units of the 3G version and 1.5-2 million units of the CDMA version.

Production of the iPhone 4S is expected to commence August and be ready for launch come September. The iPhone 4S will be expected to be featuring an 8MP camera by OmniVision Technologies and Taiwan-based Largan Precision to supply image sensors and lens kits respectively. the A5 dual-core processor chip will also be expected to be part of the iPhone 4S and it will have support for both Sprint and T-Mobile.

It seems that there will not be any major design changes nor will it be featuring LTE as Qualcomm’s LTE chips have not been performing up to Apple’s standards. It seems more and more likely that instead of the iPhone 5 we will probably be seeing the iPhone 4S instead.
