INQ Cloud Touch To Feature Foursquare

If you remember the INQ Cloud Touch phone, it’s actually a phone that was designed with Facebook integration in mind, much like the HTC ChaCha and HTC Salsa. Now it seems that INQ has announced a new deal that they have made with Foursquare to bring location based services to the Cloud Touch phone. Considering that Facebook already has its own built in location based services it seems odd that they have partnered up with Foursquare.

Their reasoning behind this is that apparently Facebook’s location based services were not considered to be powerful enough and that the Foursquare integration will add that component to the platform.

So basically users will now be able to swipe between the Facebook home screens and Foursquare home screens on their mobile device. On the Fousquare home screen it will allow users to check-in to locations and view their friends’ check-ins as well as nearby check-ins. The home screen will also provide recommendations of nearby places to eat, drink, and shop based on your location.

I guess this just boils down to personal preference in the end, and it seems more than likely that Facebook will be upgrading its location based services soon, but for now it looks like Foursquare has the upper hand. Do you use location based services? If so which do you prefer? Facebook’s services or Foursquare’s (admittedly I do like the badges and achievement system)?
