HTC Releases Source Code For 3 Of Their Phones

Published

on

So first it was Sony Ericsson who took the first step in releasing their source code and providing developers with toolkits and documentation to aid in development process. Next Samsung decide to step up to the plate by creating a developer’s forum where advise, video tutorials and toolkits could be found and now HTC has decided to follow suit, however in a more limited capacity.

It seems that HTC has decided to release the source code for 3 of their phones, namely the Desire HD, Droid Incredible 2 and the Wildfire S. If you were interested in seeing how HTC phones tick now is as good a time as any. Although right now no proprietary codes are released but maybe later they will start to offer toolkits and documentation for developers but for now this is a step in the right direction and perhaps we will start seeing how truly open the Android operating system really is.

Next up – will LG and Motorola follow suit? And dare we say Apple too?
