Google to Provide 18 Months Software Guarantee

One of the biggest problems with Google’s Android operating system was the fragmentation in which different people sporting different manufacturer’s phones received their updates at different times. A person who owned a HTC Desire Z might receive his update only a month after another user who owns a Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc, which is why at Google’s I/O today they announced that they would be working with Android OEM’s and carriers to figure out when and how Android updates are distributed.

They will also provide 18 months of software support for all the devices that they have partnered with. This is to ensure that no man, sorry, no device gets left behind.
