Do older iOS devices outsell newer Androids?

Not to spark any controversies here (as I’m sure we’re all tired of the whole Apple vs Android debate) but a report done by Canaccord Genuity technology analyst Michael Walkley has found that the iPhone 4 is by far the top selling device at AT&T and Verizon but what’s surprising is that in his report he also found that older Apple products such as the iPhone 3GS and the iPad 1 have also managed to find great success in terms of sales even up to today, even outselling the latest Android devices!

Only less than two weeks after the iPad 2 made its debut and already Verizon had sold out the first generation of iPads while over at AT&T the iPhone 3GS had manage to outsell newer Android phones such as the HTC Inspire and the Motorola Atrix..

If there was one thing Apple has that Android devices don’t is price control with new iOS devices being priced similarly to the previous generation’s, unlike Android devices where the prices range from vendor to vendor.

Although collectively the number of smartphones that runs on Google’s Android operating system surpasses the iPhone in terms of units sold, individually no manufacturer has managed to beat Apple just yet.
