Budget Samsung 4G phone to arrive on Sprint?

4G devices are usually known to be high-end phones, but it looks like Sprint is expanding their portfolio to consumers of all income level. A new Samsung phone recently passed the FCC, sporting the model number SDH-D600, featuring entry-level specs unlike what is expected of a 4G phone.

The SDH-D600 features a display (of unknown size) with a 320 x 480 resolution, what appears to be a ticker screen (like the one found on the Samsung Continuum), a 1GHz MSM8655 Qualcomm processor, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard (Sprint sure likes keyboards on its phones), a 3.1 megapixel rear camera, a front facing camera (probably VGA), Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS and Android (most likely Gingerbread). Amidst the mash up of low-mid level specs, the phone will also sport a 4G WiMAX radio for connectivity on Sprint’s 4G network.

Sprint has yet to officially announce the phone, but when they do we’ll keep you posted. Speculations put the phone at a sub-$100 price point, though it’s probably too early to tell. Stay tuned.
