Angry Birds Demo With NFC

Published

on

At the WIMA Conference, Nokia showed off a demonstration of NFC using the Angry Birds game on its C7 device. Basically what the NFC feature in Angry Birds Magic do is that it allows you to unlock additional levels within the game. The game is shipped with five levels so upon completion of the fifth level, you will need to find a friend or a random person with an NFC device and touch phones with that person in order to unlock additional levels. Basically every person you touch phones with unlocks an additional five levels.

The game will be shipped out with the Nokia C7 and it will also come with Symbian Anna that’s expected to be rolled out across all of Nokia’s NFC enabled devices this year. Honestly speaking it does not seem like a very fun thing to do, after all you just want to play the game, imagine hassling a stranger at Starbucks because you want to unlock more levels for your Angry Bird game, or imagine that you’re the person being hassled, not so fun anymore? Then again NFC technology that is being used apart from payment systems is beginning to take off, so perhaps we will start seeing some other practical uses for it soon.
