AMD Fusion Z-series To Take Intel On

We all know AMD and Intel were always competitors in the PC world, kind of like how Android and Apple fans are always butting heads. Well now it looks like AMD and Intel have taken their competition to the tablet scene by introducing their Fusion Z-series which was designed to take Intel’s Oak Trail head on.

Not much details yet but from what we do know, Desna is the codename for the new series, and AMD is touting it as capable of “powering the ultimate HD tablet” with “true APU technology” and capable of “immersive gaming” through video output. No actual specs yet but more will be revealed over the following weeks.

In addition AMD also promises acceleration in IE9, HTML5, MS Office 10 and Adobe Flash 10.2. Interesting with the IE9 acceleration as Microsoft has recently conducted tests with various platforms regarding IE9 on mobile devices and obviously WP7 devices performed the best. We do know that Nokia who will be one of Microsoft’s WP7 partners will be using Qualcomm processors for now but perhaps AMD’s Z-series processors will be seeing themselves in Windows tablets? Just a thought.
