80% Of Mobile Videos Are Watched On iOS Devices

Interestingly enough, it seems that a report done by FreeWheel has concluded that the majority of video views that occur on mobile devices happen to be on Apple’s iOS devices and that they take up about four fifths of all mobile video views with Android taking up the remainder 20% and  less than 1%  going to all other devices.

FreeWheel has attributed this dominance by Apple thanks to its early lead that they enjoyed which allowed consumers to get used to viewing videos on iOS devices. They also attributed Apple’s dominance to developers who mainly developed for iOS first before moving on to other platforms. FreeWheel also went on to report that despite only selling 20 million units worldwide Apple’s iPad already accounts for 20 percent of videos viewed on mobile devices.

These are some pretty interesting statistics, and considering that the iPad does not have the biggest nor the best display out there, according to the report they are dominating the mobile video scene. If you are an Android or Blackberry Playbook user do you think that those facts are true or perhaps greatly exaggerated?
