3D Advertisements For The iPad

Do you think you could like mobile ads more if they were in 3D? Perhaps they might seem like a novelty at the start but are 3D ads something advertisers and companies should start paying attention to? Well it looks like the first 3D ad for the US Weather Channel has been created and we can only see where it goes from there.

The company responsible for the technology has come up with two technologies to help ad creators transform their 2D ads into 3D ads, with Pagekit which is a digital publishing technology that makes it possible to quickly create dynamic, animated layouts of text, image and video. RenderKit is a platform for producing immersive mobile ads, and adds 3D to PageKit.

What they had in mind was by using the Grand Canyon for example. While seeing it in 2D is fine, there are other aspects that maybe you are not aware of, or perhaps there are more features you are curious about, which is where 3D ads come in. With 3D ads it would allow users to have a look around the Grand Canyon, see what’s behind that rock and give viewers more than one perspective while providing an immersive experience.

Granted right now it would cost too much and would not be cost effective to create 3D advertisements but just out of curiosity, just because an ad is in 3D does that make you more inclined to click on it? After all no one likes seeing ads on their mobile devices but if those ads were actually more exciting and interesting would you mind less?
