It was in the beginning of March this year that the non CDMA version of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play was cleared by the FCC. Interestingly, at that point in time, we started believing that the Xperia Play CDMA version rumors were baseless. Now with FCC publishing details of a Verizon version Xperia Play, there is a lot we need to talk about. For starters, it is clear that both CDMA and unlocked versions of the Xperia Play will be available in the US, thanks to FCC again. You already know a great deal about the Xperia Play feature set so there is no point talking about it. Hence, we will talk about the real attraction which is the CDMA version of the Xperia Play running on Verizon bands. The phone detailed by FCC for Big Red will be preloaded with Bing for Mobile, Verizon’s V CAST Media Manager, V CAST Music with Rhapsody, and VZ Navigator. Skype Mobile for the Play is also available for d-load just in case you cannot do without VoIP services. It is a 19 page document so the entirety of it cannot be discussed here, but of course, Big Red subscribers can rejoice for the fact that the Play is coming to them soon.
