New Apple iPhone 5 rumors point to September release

Another day, another iPhone 5 rumor – it seems to be the trend these days at least. Reuters managed to get their hands on three sources that were touted to have direct knowledge of Apple’s supply chain and have reported their findings.

The iPhone 5 is now rumored to have a September release date, which fits in with the previous rumors of a late iPhone this year, but breaks Apple’s mid-year tradition of them revealing the iPhone at WWDC annually, like they’ve been doing for the past few years.

The iPhone 5 is rumored to feature a design similar to the iPhone 4 which keeps in line with Apple’s decision to stick with a similar design for at least 2 generations of an iPhone (i.e. 3G and 3GS), so there’s no surprise here. Plus, the iPhone 4 already looks pretty good so there’s not much need for a change in that department.

Component manufacturers have also been revealed for the iPhone 5. Apparently Apple will enlist the help of camera module maker Largan Precision Co Ltd, touchscreen maker Wintek Corp and case maker Foxconn Technology Co Ltd to create the next iOS phone.

But keep in mind, like all rumors they should be taken with a pinch of salt. Until there’s official word from Apple, we can’t be 100% sure about everything we hear about the iPhone 5.
