LG Optimus Big officially announced

Keeping in tradition with releasing products in their own country before the rest of the world, LG has announced that their upcoming Android phone, the LG Optimus Big will be available in Korea tomorrow. The LG Optimus Big is named Big, well because of its big screen. The phone packs a screen larger than all the other LG offerings (except that the Optimus Pad Android tablet of course) – a 4.3″ WVGA NOVA display that unfortunately doesn’t have glasses-free 3D capabilities.

Other features of the phone include: a dual-core 1GHz processor, 5 megapixel rear camera, a front facing camera, WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth and it will run on Android 2.2 (hopefully Gingerbread will arrive soon).  There’s no official word on whether we’ll be seeing this phone this side of the world, though chances are we will, and if we do it will probably be rebadged with a different name. What’s your take on 4″+ screens on Android phones? A waste of precious battery life or worth every inch?
