Following in AT&T’s footsteps to help folks in the US keep in touch with anybody in Japan after last week’s catastrophe; Verizon, Sprint, MetroPCS and T-Mobile have announced their support for the same cause. The aforementioned carriers are now all providing free calls and texts for their postpaid users to anybody in Japan. T-Mobile are also waiving fees for texting shortcodes (i.e. text messages sent to the Red Cross donation line) in addition to letting their postpaid customers call Japan for free through regular calls or over WiFi. If you’re a user of one of the networks, feel free to try and reach out to anyone you know living in Japan just to make sure they’re safe.
