Great news for the BlackBerry developer community that has been waiting all these years to get their hands on the BlackBerry Messenger API. RIM has officially announced the public beta release of the BBM Social Platform. Developers can now take advantage of RIM’s BBM service to enhance or create new apps with BBM features. Expect to find features like BBM chatting, file transferring, app sharing and more being used in upcoming games, location-based apps and possibly other chat clients. Since RIM is slowly opening up their closed platform, could rumors of BBM appearing on other operating systems turn out to be true? We’ll just have to wait and see. For now, developers can head here to find out more info about the BBM Social Platform.
