HP Palm Pre, Pre Plus and Pixi not getting webOS 2.0

Bad news folks. After the exciting announcements of new webOS 2.0 devices yesterday, it looks like old-school adopters of the original Pre, Pre Plus and Pixi won’t be seeing the latest version of webOS. Despite promising the update awhile ago, HP has pulled a Motorola and announced that the older products just don’t have the specs to run webOS 2.0 (and beyond). Ouch. Now it looks like all you early adopters of webOS are forced to ditch your trusty ol’ Palms for new ones. Apparently there’s a silver lining to this dark cloud though – HP will be doing “something special” for owners of those abandoned devices, when the Pre 3, Veer and TouchPad go on sale. I’m guessing some sort of trade-in deal or a massive discount off the new devices. Will you folks be replacing your webOS devices or does an unofficial OS update from the community sound like a better solution?
