Run Android apps on non-Android phones with Alien Dalvik

Myriad Group AG has just announced the launch of Myriad Alien Dalvik. Alien Dalvik allows Android apps to be run on any platform unmodified. All developers or app store owners have to do is repackage the Android Package (APK) files using Alien Dalvik. No modifications will need to be done to the operating system and the apps run natively. The apps work just like they would on any Android device and there is no slowdown or gimped functionality. This means that Android apps are going to have a much wider audience in the future – if Alien Dalvik becomes successful, I foresee developers hopping over to develop for the Android platform and then using Alien Dalvik to make their apps run on other operating systems instead. I wonder what Apple has to say about all this. Alien Dalvik will debut commercially later this year for MeeGo first and will be demonstrated at the Mobile World Congress. Hit the break to watch a video of Android apps running on a Nokia N900 (MeeGo operating system) after the break:
