It has been previously reported that the next version of Google for smartphones would be called Ice Cream Sandwich, but other than that, no news has been reported about the upcoming operating system. Well now, some rumors have sprouted, with hints that Android 2.4 will be released in April. Apparently 2.4 will still be called Gingerbread, though it is uncertain if it will have any Honeycomb features implemented in the operating system. Android 2.4 is also supposed to be able to handle apps that have been optimized for dual-core processors. The first phone to run on Android 2.4 is also rumored to be the upcoming Viewpad 4 from Viewsonic. With all these names and different versions about it has becoming quite confusing to keep track of what’s going on with Android. Let’s hope Google give more insight at their upcoming I/O event in May or through another announcement before that.
