Verizon iPhone is now official

Yes, you heard it right. At the special Verizon press conference, Lowell Macadam has officially confirmed that Big Red will be getting the fruity iOS phone that’s been speculated to arrive since forever. We can put an end to all future Verizon iPhone-related leaks. The Verizon iPhone will be the iPhone 4 except that it will have a CDMA chip to run on Verizon’s network (instead of the regular GSM radios like the previous iPhones). It will also feature Personal Hotspot capabilities to connect up to 5 devices over WiFi. It was also mentioned that the CDMA iPhone won’t be exclusive to Verizon – does this mean we’ll be seeing it on other networks as well? Only time will tell. It still won’t support voice and data at the same time (limitation of CDMA) but there shouldn’t be any more problems with the antenna. Looks like good times ahead for Verizon, hopefully the surge of new customers won’t be causing them any problems with their network. The Verizon iPhone 4 will be available for pre-order to existing customers on February 3 and to all customers on February 10. It will be priced at $199 for the 16GB, and $299 for 32GB.
