T-Mobile Vibrant Froyo update now live – through Kies

Published

T-Mobile has kept true to their word, and like they promised, the Froyo (Android 2.2) update for the Samsung Vibrant is now live. The update isn’t over-the-air (OTA), so you’ll need to get it through Samsung Kies. It is uncertain why T-Mobile chose to distribute the update using this method instead of OTA (probably to cut the costs of having to dish out an update on their network) but it doesn’t really matter – because the update is finally here and it’s working perfectly (at least according to reports so far).  You need to make sure that your phone is registered with T-Mobile, and you’ll need to download Mini Kies here. The Android 2.2 update brings native tethering, WiFi calling and a new camera interface. It also enables many more Google apps as well as the option to store apps on your microSD card. If you own a T-Mobile Vibrant and haven’t updated your phone to Android 2.2 yet, what are you waiting for? Let us know how it works out for you.
