Samsung denies rumors about charging for updates

There have been some rumors floating around stating that Samsung have been demanding a high fee from the American carriers for the Samsung Galaxy S updates, and that our carriers are refusing to pay this fee, hence the delay in Android 2.2 arriving on the handset. It appears that Samsung aren’t happy with being branded as a money sucking corporation, and so they have come forward with a statement dismissing those rumors about them. “No, Samsung is not charging carriers for Froyo updates to Galaxy S. We hope to have more detail on status shortly. Promise!” according to an email to Phone Scoop about the situation. Well we sure hope this is the case. Samsung has been constantly delaying the Android 2.2 update to their Galaxy S handsets in the US for many months now, while the rest of the world has already been rocking Froyo for quite some time now. Let’s hope they come up with a reasonable explanation for the delay or they’re definitely not going to see a lot of new Android customers for their future Galaxy S phones.
