Touchscreen devices are increasingly popular, so it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise to see a leaked roadmap surface, confirming that RIM is planning on releasing some touchscreen Blackberry devices. First up is a device codenamed Malibu, which could be dubbed the Curve Touch. The phone looks like a relative of the Curve and will apparently ship in the first quarter of 2012. Despite the presence of a touchscreen display, the device will apparently offer entry/mid-level hardware only, such as an 800MHz processor, 3.25-inch display with 480 x 360 pixel resolution, along with a 5-megapixel camera that will not support HD video recording.

Another touchscreen device, labeled the Monaco, could apparently be a CDMA version of the Storm 3. The leak also mentioned that the upcoming BlackBerry OS 6.1 will offer a “liquid graphics” interface that is slated to improve the user experience and will also offer a revamped browser that will take advantage of faster processors and hardware acceleration.
