HTC ThunderBolt to support simultaneous voice and data

While it’s quite normal for CDMA phones to not support voice and data simultaneously, some leaked documents hint that the upcoming HTC ThunderBolt will be the carrier’s first phone to offer voice and 3G data simultaneously. While that would be a great selling point, the carrier is not marketing it too much since they don’t want to artificially inflate expectations. This capability is due to SVDO (Simultaneous Voice and Data Optimized) and confirms that Verizon has slowly but surely been implementing such technology on its network. Of course, with this in place, folks will begin to ask if the iPhone will be able to support for data and voice simultaneously on Verizon’s network, though it was previously confirmed that it wouldn’t be able to do so.
