Google Translate for Android updated

Your favorite translation app on Android just got better. Google has launched an updated version of their Translate app for the Android operating system and introduced a whole bunch of new features to make the app easier to use. The user interface has been updated with better drop down boxes, input boxes and cleaner icons and layout. The app also now has an experimental feature called conversation Mode. Conversation Mode turns your phone into an extremely useful translator, and brings us one step closer to those translation devices you only see in cartoons and the movies. Conversation mode will allow you to translate conversations in real time, while you’re talking to someone so you don’t have to tell a person to stop for you to browse the dictionary to find out what the other person is saying! All you have to do is set the two languages (at the moment it only works with English and Spanish), and take turns speaking into the mic. The app then translates the speech into the other language and reads it aloud. Now that’s what I call handy, especially if you travel a lot to non-English speaking countries and need a way to communicate with them. The Conversation Mode is still in alpha, and a lot more work needs to be done, but from what they’ve done with it so far, it’s pretty impressive. Google Translate is available now for download on the Android Market.
