First look at HP-Palm’s webOS 2.0 tablets?

The folks over at Engadget were sent some computer-generated renders of what appears to be a webOS 2.0 tablet from HP-Palm. Codenamed the Topaz, this 9″ tablet is supposedly one of two tablets that HP-Palm is working on right now, the other one called Opal, a 7″ variation. From the images leaked, it looks like the Topaz will have no physical buttons, a front facing camera, a micro USB port, and a 3 speaker arrangement that will allow stereo audio in both portrait and landscape mode. It will also run on an unnamed (at the moment) 1.2GHz processor.According to additional info that they obtained, the Opal will probably start to ship in September this year in multiple variants – WiFi only, AT&T 3G, Verizon LTE and AT&T LTE next year. The Topaz may also be arriving before the Opal. Sure seems like HP-Palm will be pretty late to the tablet party this year, considering we should be seeing the Motorola XOOM, BlackBerry PlayBook and (possibly) the iPad 2 by then. Will the promise of webOS 2.0 on a tablet be enough to convince consumers to choose them over the competition? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
