Asus tablets will ship with Android 2.3 and not 3.0

In some disappointing news today, it has been reported that Asus will be shipping out their Android tablets with Gingerbread (Android 2.3) instead of Honeycomb (3.0). According to a representative from Asus, the targeted spring shipping date and new operating system was a mistake – the devices will ship in summer and come with Android 2.3. Wow, it looks like the devices will be late and outdated. Not a good move Asus. Hopefully it won’t take too long for them to release the all-important Honeycomb update. This info affects the 10.1″ slider, transformer and also the 7.1″ memo tablets. How many of you were thinking about getting the tablets they had on display at CES 2011, and does this news change your mind?
