Thimble concept finger glove works with phone to help blind people in their daily lives

Some designers have come up with a video demonstrating a design concept called The Thimble. The Thimble is a one finger glove that contains an optical scanner which can scan text and translate them into Braille. The glove will then present the Braille text to the user who can read it just by feeling the bumps move across his/her fingers. The Thimble also connects to a phone using Bluetooth to make it location aware, and can connect to the internet to deliver news right to your fingertips (literally). A very nifty idea which could really aid the blind. Though if they use it, they’ll have to walk around with an expensive glove and let’s not forget the smartphone.
