Sprint supports the idea of T-Mobile investing in Clearwire

In a Bloomberg report released today, it was mentioned that Sprint would support a network partnership between T-Mobile and Clearwire. Clearwire, a telecom company that hasn’t been doing too well, recently fired 15% of its staff, reduced sales and marketing spending and delayed their projects to help them save enough money to at least survive until the following year. Sprint currently owns the majority of Clearwire, and any efforts to get rid of Clearwire’s debt will surely be smiled upon- hence Sprint’s approval of a rival network investing in their 4G WiMAX provider. But T-Mobile didn’t confirm if they would be investing in Clearwire or not. With T-Mobile already offering their own HSPA+ 4G service, it seems highly unlikely that they would need another 4G service- unless Clearwire’s WiMAX covers a part of the States that T-Mobile hasn’t covered yet, and that doesn’t seem like a big enough reason to utilize Clearwire. What do you think- Would T-Mobile investing in Clearwire be a good move?
