Sony drops more hints about the PlayStation Phone

In a recent New York Times article about the PlayStation Portable, the Gaming Chief of Sony, Kazuo Hirai, dropped some clues about the upcoming PlayStation Phone. In the interview he said, “We don’t want gamers to be asking, what’s the difference between that and a PSP (PlayStation Portable). We have to come up with a message that users will understand. It would have to be a product that keeps the PlayStation’s strengths intact.” This seems to point us in the direction that the PlayStation Phone will not be able to play PlayStation Portable games. Probably a wise decision on their part – this means that the phone won’t be eating into sales of the PlayStation Portable console and vice versa, but it will probably be a deal breaker for consumers who were hoping to ditch their PSP and phone so they could have a 2 in 1 device. Other than that, nothing much was said about the phone, so I guess we’ll just have to wait for its official unveiling. Are you still excited about the PlayStation Phone?
