Skyfire now available for the iPad

Skyfire, one of the most popular alternative browsers on the mobile platform is now available for the iPad. Previously only available on the iPhone, Skyfire was sold out within hours of it being available on the iTunes App Store. Its creators had to stop people from downloading it and slowly allowed new batches of downloads each day. Now, the very same browser has made its way onto Apple’s iOS tablet. Though I doubt it’ll have the same impact as the iPhone version, the app is still useful nevertheless. In case you didn’t know, what makes Skyfire so special is that it’s the only app on the app store that allows you to view Flash videos on your iOS device. The app works by sending Flash content to a remote server that converts it into an iOS-friendly video so you can view it without the usual problems you would get with Flash on iOS (battery drainage, crashing, lag etc). Skyfire is available now on the iTunes App Store for $4.99.
