Samsung Galaxy S Froyo update rescinded from Kies

For all you Samsung Galaxy S (i9000M) owners who didn’t manage to get your Froyo (Android 2.2) update before it got pulled offline, fret not. Samsung has issued a statement in response to the issue.

“There have been intermittent issues reported during the firmware upgrade process with Kies for the Samsung Galaxy S i9000M series of phones. Samsung’s development team is currently aware of this issue and working towards a solution. Accordingly, The firmware update feature, which affects the ability to upgrade to Android 2.2, is temporarily disabled until a solution is released. We apologize for the inconvenience.”

There wasn’t any explanation or details given about what was wrong with the update, but seeing how the Samsung Intercept was being bricked through a Froyo update, one can assume the same thing. With this endless string of delays, one must surely wonder why don’t they just release a stock version of the ROM and get it over with. It would make Samsung Galaxy S users all over the world happy. Or they could just skip 2.2 and head on straight to bringing the 2.3 update, seeing how the Galaxy S is pretty much the same as the Nexus S.
