RIM opens BlackBerry PlayBook app submissions

Remember the contest that RIM was holding in conjunction with the announcement of the PlayBook? It’s been awhile since it was announced, and developers have had some time to come up with their entries. Today, RIM has officially announced that they will be accepting app submissions for the contest. Any app that makes it through to the App World will win its developer a free BlackBerry PlayBook. Sounds like a great idea? You bet. This strategic movie by RIM will allow the tablet to launch with a number of apps already available on the App World, which is always a good thing. Though it’s unclear how many developers have taken part or will be taking part in this contest, the prize of a free PlayBook should be enticing enough to attract a decent amount of attention. The contest ends on the first of February 2011, so if you have an idea for a great app, what are you waiting for? Head here to grab the software development kit and read the contest rules.
