Radial menus for the next iOS?

A new patent by Apple has just surfaced recently and boy does it contain some interesting info. Titled “radial menus”, it details how a pop up radial menu would work on their iOS devices. Basically a long press would cause a radial menu to pop up, and a swipe in the right direction will let you select what you want to do with the item. Similar to the interface used in old point and click games (Monkey Island anyone?), it will definitely spice up how users navigate through iOS. Though Apple has applied for the patent, there’s no guarantee that they will be using it in the future. And if they do, you won’t have to be surprised.
