Micro USB chargers to be the standard in Europe

Looks like things are going to get more organized in Europe starting from next year onwards. A proposal to standardize all the cellphone chargers talked about a year ago, has finally been drawn up and put into effect. Beginning in 2011, all phones in Europe will need to support Micro USB charging. This will cut down on the hassle of having to pack multiple chargers for different devices each time you go on a trip. Not to mention, quite a number of gadgets already use Micro USB for charging, so chargers will play nice with each other. I wonder if this will apply to the iPhone too. Apple has been notorious for not following standards set by other people and I don’t see them switching their proprietary port found on their iDevices for anything else.
