Remember the creators of the 0.1mm thick AMOLED screen? Well it looks like they’re out for some blood. According to a news report, the Taiwanese Industrial Technology Research Institute has sued South Korea’s LG Electronics, accusing them of infringing 22 of its US registered patents. Besides mobile phones, the infringements extend to air conditioners, blue-ray discs, and LCD displays. No details were released about the broken patents, but we can only guess it should be mostly related to screens. Either way, it looks like things will be getting ugly, with ITRI stating that if the court doesn’t take any actions against LG, the court “will suffer additional irreparable harm for which there is no adequate remedy at law and impairment of the value of its patent rights.” Expect more details about the lawsuit to be released in the future.
