After footage of the LG Optimus 2X leaked earlier this week, we knew it wouldn’t be long before LG announced their Tegra 2 powered phone. And it turns out that day is today. LG has just announced the launch of the Optimus 2X, a Tegra 2 beast that’s been sweeping its competition off their feet in various speed tests videos found online. Granted, those other phones aren’t dual-core and don’t stand a chance, but it’s good to see LG get back into the smartphone game with the world’s first dual-core processor phone. Sure, the phone doesn’t come with Gingerbread (Android 2.3), but LG has promised that the update will arrive not too long after the operating system is released. Other specs of the LG Optimus 2X include: a 4″ WVGA display, 8GB of internal memory, micro SD card slot that supports up to 32GB, 1080p HDMI output, 8 megapixel rear camera and a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera. It also includes a 1,500 mAh battery- something standard in a lot of phones nowadays, let’s see if NVIDIA’s claims about dual-cores being more power efficient than single core processors stand true. The LG Optimus 2X will be released in Korea, January 2011 and in the rest of the world in the following weeks. We can’t wait.
