Indian city begins to shut down illegal base stations

Published

The Indian city of Raipur, Chhattisgarh, have begun to have its officials move in and shut down around 40% of the city’s cell phone towers which were touted to be erected without any prior planning permits. With 333 cell phone towers in Raipur, it seems that 144 of those were installed by cellular companies (no less!) illegally. While a series of notices have been served to them, true to form in a third world country, nothing was done, so hopefully the enforcement officers will be able to do their bit and instill some law and order in the land. Hopefully the removal of these illegal structures will not affect your signal in the area you’re living in!
