Huawei Ascend now available on MetroPCS- yet another entry-level Android phone

MetroPCS has just announced that they will be offering the Huawei Ascend for use on their 3G network. For only $179, the entry-level Android phone can be yours. The Huawei Ascend comes with Android 2.1, a 3.5″ HVGA touchscreen, Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS and a 3.2″ megapixel camera. The phone has been available a couple of months back on Cricket, and it doesn’t really bring anything new to the table but Tom Keys, CEO of Metro PCS says, “Our customers desire more choices and are looking for the latest handsets and services that fit their personalities, lifestyles and budgets. With the addition of this device, we are again expanding our portfolio to provide our customers with a chance to experience the latest technology with the value of affordable, flexible and predictable no annual contract wireless services.” I think MetroPCS needs to release an Android phone that works with their 4G network if they want to attract more people to their network; after all, one Samsung Craft feature phone isn’t going to draw a lot of customers. What do you think? Are you interested in buying the Huawei Ascend on MetroPCS?
