With Gingerbread due to hit the streets in a couple of hours on the Nexus S, people have already started talking about the next version of Android – Honeycomb. According to rumors from a third party developer, the next version of Android that will be optimized for tablets, Honeycomb, will be released as version 2.4 instead of the 3.0 it was previously rumored to be. An update is still an update, and in Android’s case, a jump in numbers doesn’t necessarily mean the there were going to be many or little changes to the operating system. But if it turns out to be true, then we’ve been naming Honeycomb as Android 3.0 wrong all along, and the version number for Android 3.0 could be reserved for something more deserving of the number. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. What are your thoughts?
