Google Voice now available for the iPad and iPod Touch

The Google Voice app that was previously only available for the iPhone is now available for the iPod touch and iPad. No, you won’t be able to make calls using those iOS devices, but making a call with the app lets you select which phone you want to make the call with, and Google Voice will then ring your phone to start the call. But you can use the app to send and receive text messages, which is pretty nifty. If you have a constant connection to the internet on your iOS device (i.e. a MiFi hotspot) you can use your iPod touch or iPad as a device purely for texting and setting up calls. Maybe in the future they’ll support the use of a headset to make voice calls, but that’s just wishful thinking. Head over to the iTunes App Store to download Google Voice for your iPad/iPod touch.
