Google Nexus S in Russia won’t have a Super AMOLED display

Bad news for folks over in Russia who are eagerly anticipating the arrival of the Google Nexus S: the Android phone will be arriving in February 2011- a couple of months later than the US or UK. In addition to getting the device late, they won’t be experiencing the goodness of vivid colors on a Super AMOLED display; instead the Nexus S phones sold there will be packing a Super Clear LCD instead. It’s unclear if this switch in displays only affects Russia or will it be for the whole world (excluding UK and US). No reason has been given to the switch but we can assume it’s due to the shortage of Super AMOLED screens worldwide. Hopefully this means that the prices of the phone will be lowered as well. Would the lack of a SAMOLED screen on the Nexus S be a deal breaker for you?
