Gingerbread for Nexus One arriving in the coming weeks

It looks like the Nexus One has finally lived out its course of being the flagship Android device.  The phone that was promised to receive the latest Android updates as soon as they are released won’t be enjoying the privilege anymore. Case in point: the latest version of Android that was released with the Nexus S last week. If the Nexus S wasn’t a flagship device, the Nexus One probably would have gotten the update by now. But that isn’t the case. With anxious Nexus One owners wondering if they would ever get the update at all, Google finally posted a tweet to put their fears to rest. The update will be here in the coming weeks. As to how many weeks, it isn’t clear but it’s unlikely we’ll be seeing it before the end of the year – “just hang tight!” I wonder if this will give other manufacturers a chance to release the Gingerbread update for their phones before the ex-flagship device can get it. What do you think?
